The University of Wisconsin-Madison E-Business Consortium conducted this study in order to gain insight into the following questions:
• What is the current state of the practice for workforce planning and scheduling in warehouses and distribution centers?
• Would automated capabilities for planning and scheduling yield significant benefits?
• If so, what would be the potential impact of such automated capabilities in terms of increased efficiency of labor utilization?
