As managers at retail and in other operational areas know, there are parallels in today's workplace when trying to schedule employees. The top source of distraction is often phone calls, emails and impromptu chats with employees about "When do I work next?" "How many hours did I work last week?" or "Can I switch shifts?"
For this reason, workforce scheduling technology is sometimes only as good as the questions that don't get asked. In other words, if we are to give managers back their sanity, and allow them to focus on the execution of key initiatives and delivering outstanding customer service, then this barrage of administrative distractions needs to be kept to a minimum. Beyond just the chatter that needs to be avoided, there also is the complex schedule revisions and related after-hours busywork that must be tackled with each employee question. Read more
