RedPrairie provides flexible Duty Management solution for EHD London No.1 Bond

Fine wine distribution specialist cites RedPrairie expertise and support as key to delivering a consistently high quality service for discerning customers

Stokenchurch, UK – Specialist wine storage and distribution company, EHD London No. 1 Bond (EHD), is continuing to reap benefits of Duty Management, a specialist bonded warehouse management solution (WMS) from productivity software solutions provider RedPrairie, to deliver a high quality service for its customers under strict HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) controls.

By using Duty Management, EHD has been able to cut administration costs by 15% and focus on core activities. The solution also enables customers to easily access all details of their account online, checking their personal stock holding - reducing the need for site visits.

EHD, which has tripled in size over recent years, enjoys the continued flexibility of RedPrairie’s Duty Management solution since its implementation in 2009, enabling EHD to maintain a high level of customer service by keeping abreast of regular legislative updates from HMRC. This includes the recent introduction of the electronic Excise Movement and Control System (EMCS) regulation, which covers the movement of excise goods between EU member states.

Utilising RedPrairie’s solution, EHD offers both 'under bond' and 'duty paid' storage to clients and meets strict HMRC rules that enables regular inventory checking and stock reconciliation.

Phelps continued: “The reporting facility is very comprehensive allowing us to provide a very personal service to our customers with a clear audit trail and exact details of the duty paid. This is crucial as at peak periods we can be moving between 20-30,000 cases of wine a week, which can range in price from £700 to £20,000 a bottle.”

With over 55,000 sq ft of warehousing and storage, including Locke King Vaults, a unique network of former WW2 underground air-raid shelters at Brooklands in Weybridge, EHD stores in excess of 300,000 cases of fine wine on behalf of over 350 customers including retailers, leading auctioneers, fine wine merchants, private investors and celebrities.
