RedPrairie Car Places Fourth in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 2007
Congratulations to Rollcentre Racing, the Le Mans team sponsored by RedPrairie, who placed fourth out of 55 entries in the historic 75th 24-Hour Le Mans endurance race, which took place in France, 16-17 June.
Stokenchurch, UK – Rollcentre’s three drivers - Joao Barbosa, Stuart Hall and team owner Martin Short – completed 347 laps of the 14 km (9 miles) circuit in their Judd Pescarolo, pictured, clocking up 36 refuelling and engineering pit-stops along the way. Rollcentre was the highest placed private team. The race was won by Audi, who also took first place in 2006. Twenty-six cars did not finish.
The largest crowd in the history of Le Mans - more than 250,000 - lined the course. Among them was a party of 20 RedPrairie guests who flew in for the weekend and braved the wet conditions. Martin Hiscox, President and Managing Director International, RedPrairie, who led the party, explained the appeal of Le Mans.
“Whereas grand prix cars race on smooth, purpose-built circuits and are built entirely for speed, Le Mans is about sustaining high performance for hour upon hour over the far more demanding surface of normal roads. The combination of speed, reliability and durability that the engineers must deliver, plus the extreme demands on drivers’ concentration and stamina, is a spectacular human endeavour.
“For a private team such as Rollcentre to place so highly against the well-funded manufacturers’ teams bears testament to their ingenuity and passion. We congratulate them on these qualities - and their result - and hope that we at RedPrairie may also go about out our work with such spirit.”
Martin Short said, "It really is a result way above our expectations and shows what a small, dedicated and determined team of people can do against the odds. By rights the best result we could have hoped for was sixth, against the might of Audi and Peugeot, but they either threw the car off the track and into the barriers, or had technical difficulties. The technical innovations required to compete at the highest level are always going to be expensive so the sponsorship from RedPrairie played a large part in our success, and we hope to see them on board for next year.”
Motorsport fans should note that RedShift International, RedPrairie’s international customer event, will have a racing theme in 2007. The event will take place at the Marriott Heathrow, UK, 16-17 October.
