Amazon and other online-only retailers are hijacking customers from multi-channel retailers, many of whom are fighting back with major initiatives to combat "showrooming," a trend where shoppers visit stores to look at products and use digital tools to purchase them from online retailers.
Join us for this timely webinar, where panelists from RedPrairie and Gartner examine the extraordinary success of the showrooming strategy, which is driving Amazon's projected revenue to $60 billion in 2012 and $100 billion in 2015.
More importantly, the webinar will focus on how multi-channel retailers can fight back using the following methods:
- Two-Pronged Pricing Strategy: The first prong is based on consistent cross-channel prices to earn shopper trust, and the second prong is using a full array of strategic promotional events and campaigns that drive traffic to stores.
- Cross-Channel Integration: This involves major investment and hard work by the IT department, but it is not only about technology. It is achieved when silos are eliminated between platforms, databases and applications AND when silos are eliminated between departments and line-of-business executives.
- Store Traffic and Conversion: Another gap is the lack of store traffic counters and, as a result, conversion metrics. As cross-channel initiatives increasingly drive traffic to stores, especially from the social media channel, measuring conversion will become critical, and it can't be done without traffic counting technology in place.
- Become an Analytics-Driven Organization: Data by itself has zero value. But it is a treasure trove of opportunity when something is done with it. New tools to manage big data are becoming available and offer retailers new opportunities to finally capitalize on the rich databases of information they possess about their own customers.
