Exhibit A - Cookies Used on RedPrairie's Web Site
RedPrairie uses the below-referenced third party tools to collect cookies on our web site. Below is an explanation of such cookies and how they are collected.
• Google Analytics
• Marketo
• Webtrends
• Leadlander
GOOGLE ANALYTICS COOKIES
Google Analytics uses cookies (http://code.google.com/apis/analytics/docs/concepts/gaConceptsCookies.html) to define user sessions, as well as to provide a number of key features in Google Analytics reports. Google Analytics sets or updates cookies only to collect data required for the reports. Additionally, Google Analytics uses only first-party cookies. This means that all cookies set by Google Analytics for the RedPrairie domain send data only to the servers for RedPrairie's domain. This effectively makes Google Analytics cookies the personal property of RedPrairie's web site domain, and the data cannot be altered or retrieved by any service on another domain.
The following lists the types of information that is obtained via RedPrairie's Google Analytics cookies and used in Analytics reports.
Setting the Scope of RedPrairie's Site Content
Because any cookie read/write access is restricted by a combination of the cookie name and its domain, default visitor tracking via Google Analytics is confined to the domain of the page on which the tracking code is installed. For the most common scenario where the tracking code is installed on a single domain (and no other sub-domains), the generic setup is correct. In other situations, where RedPrairie wishes to track content across domains or sub-domains, or restrict tracking to a smaller section of a single domain, RedPrairie uses additional methods in the ga.js tracking code to define content scope. See Domains & Directories in the Collection API document for details.
Determining Visitor Session
The Google Analytics tracking for ga.js uses two cookies to establish a session. If either of these two cookies are absent, further activity by the user initiates the start of a new session. See the Session article for a detailed definition and a list of scenarios that end a session. This description is specific to the ga.js tracking code for web pages.
Identifying Unique Visitors
Each unique browser that visits a page on RedPrairie's site is provided with a unique ID via the __utma cookie. In this way, subsequent visits to RedPrairie's web site via the same browser are recorded as belonging to the same (unique) visitor. Thus, if a person interacted with RedPrairie's web site using both Firefox and Internet Explorer, the Analytics reports would track this activity under two unique visitors. Similarly if the same browser were used by two different visitors, but with a separate computer account for each, the activity would be recorded under two unique visitor IDs. On the other hand, if the browser happens to be used by two different people sharing the same computer account, one unique visitor ID is recorded, even though two unique individuals accessed the site.
Tracking Traffic Sources & Navigation
When visitors reach RedPrairie's site via a search engine result, a direct link, or an ad that links to RedPrairie's page, Google Analytics stores the type of referral information in a cookie. The parameters in the cookie value string are parsed and sent in the GIF Request (in the utmcc variable). The expiration date for the cookie is set as 6 months into the future. This cookie gets updated with each subsequent page view to RedPrairie's site; thus it is used to determine visitor navigation within RedPrairie's site.
MARKETO COOKIES
What about Cookies?
Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that RedPrairie transfers to a user's computer's hard drive through the user's web browser to enable RedPrairie's systems to recognize the user's browser and tell RedPrairie how and when pages on RedPrairie's site are visited and by how many people. Marketo employs cookies in order for its server to recognize a return visitor as a unique user and passes this information on to RedPrairie. The cookies placed by the RedPrairie server are readable only by RedPrairie, and cookies cannot access, read or modify any other data on a computer.
The "help" portion of the toolbar on the majority of browsers will direct a user on how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to command the browser to tell you when you receive a new cookie, or how to fully disable cookies. It is recommended that users leave the cookies activated, however, because cookies enable you to take advantage of some of RedPrairie's most attractive features.
WEBTRENDS COOKIES
Webtrends may automatically collect information using "cookies" for RedPrairie. Cookies are small data files stored on a user's hard drive by a web site. Among other things, cookies help RedPrairie improve its sites and the user's experience. Some examples of how RedPrairie uses cookies are as follows: to see which areas and features are popular, to count visits to sites, to pre-populate forms and deliver tailored content. These cookies are linked to personal information. RedPrairie may use third party cookies placed on its sites by third parties acting on RedPrairie's behalf.
LEADLANDER COOKIES
LeadLander uses cookies to personally identify users so that it can understand each individual visitor's actions on RedPrairie's web site. LeadLander may identify a user's personal information based on links the user has clicked in emails or information the user has submitted in online web forms and associate this information with LeadLander cookies. LeadLander may continue to identify a user and track a user's web page views as the user views other web sites that use LeadLander's services.
