Enhance visibility across your wall-less warehouse

Spot and retrieve trailers in the yard with a range of resources

Multi-Country Compliance Landing

Yard Management

Many of today's yards have thousands of trailers at various stages of activity – essentially "warehouses without walls." Yard Management, a stand-alone solution, extends many of the benefits derived from a warehouse management solution – like real time control, accuracy and improved productivity – into the trailer yard and docks. The solution efficiently controls accurate spotting and retrieval of trailers in real-time, using RFID, RF terminals, or paper. Yard Management allows many views of the yard, as well as current and pending activity. Additionally, it can redirect or initiate trailer movement, and allow gate operators to check trailers in and out while capturing all relevant data.

More

Yard Management helps manage and track the flow of trailers and containers into, within, and out of yards. To facilitate information management and task assignment, a Yard Management screen provides graphical access to a wealth of information including a graphical layout of the yard, allowing the manager to quickly view where trailers are located, which locations are empty or full, and where pending tasks have been assigned. Other capabilities include:

  • Multi-Site Control - Site maintenance capabilities within Yard Management allow site identifiers to be added so multiple yards can be controlled using the same application. Each user can be linked to a single site or allowed access to data in multiple sites.
  • Spotting - Based on data captured at check-in, Yard Management will select a parking spot for the trailer. It may also select a dock door as the destination based upon outstanding demand or schedules. Options can be setup on a user / workstation basis to confirm multiple aspects of yard activities to increase accuracy.
  • Docking / Undocking - Whenever a trailer enters or leaves a dock door, it is likely information about its status or contents has changed. Clearance requests can be initiated manually, via notification from a WMS, or by pointing and clicking on the appropriate objects in the Yard Management screen.
  • Yard Locations - There are several types of locations modeled by Yard Management. Storage locations serve as the typical trailer parking bay, dock-doors correlate with the doors at the warehouse, and gate-in / gate-out locations are used to check in or out. Stage locations can be set up as areas or locations by which shipping units must pass through a safety or fuel check stage directly after being checked-in.
  • RFID Enabled - Track and manage trailers and other mobile assets using barcode, RFID or other Automated Identification Data Collection (AIDC) technologies. The attributes and history of each asset under system control can be uniquely defined and the content within assets can also be tracked.

Managing the movement and disposition of trailers and their contents across large yards and dock facilities can be as complex as managing a distribution center, yet many companies have not deployed equivalent technology. RedPrairie's Yard Management provides the comprehensive functionality to streamline yard operations, improve dock utilization, and reduce dwell times and costs.
